Research Interest:
(1) Developing drugs to fight orphan diseases
1) Generating alternatives to steroids for the treatment of Crohn's disease,
psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis
(2) Developing drugs to fight cancers and Alzheimer's disease
1) Developing better drugs for the treatment of diabetes.
(Hyperinsulinemia, too much insulin in the blood, is reported to increase
cancer and Alzheimer’s disease risks. The reasons why hyperinsulinemia
connects with these diseases are that insulin possesses a character to
induce cell proliferation and insulin is also degraded by the similar enzymes
to degrade amyloid beta-protein.)
2) Developing drugs against cancers including leukemia and breast cancer
3) Creating drugs to alleviate chronic pain
(3) Generating screening or diagnostic tools
1) Developing RXR ligand screening system using fluorescent RXR ligands
2) Developing cartilage selective fluorescent or X-ray probes
