骨や歯などの、生物が形成する鉱物はバイオミネラルと呼ばれます。バイオミネラルは、人工合成困難な構造、組成を持ち、様々な優れた性質を示す機能性材料です。バイオミネラルの形成機構解明は、材料科学およびナノテクノロジー分野の発展に貢献することが期待されます。私たちはオミクス解析や遺伝子工学的手法を用いて、バイオミネラル形成機構の解明とその応用を目指した研究を行っています。
Minerals formed by living organisms, such as bones and teeth, are called biominerals. Biominerals have structures and compositions that are difficult to synthesize artificially, and they are functional materials with a variety of excellent properties. Elucidation of the formation mechanism of biominerals is expected to contribute to the development of materials science and nanotechnology. We are conducting research to elucidate the mechanism of biomineral formation and its application using omics analysis and genetic engineering methods.
